Position Overview:

As an Accounting Manager, you will oversee the accounting department functions with a focus on ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reporting. This position reports to the VP of Finance.


What You’ll be Doing:

  • Responsible for full-cycle accounting (accounts payable, invoicing, accounts receivable, cash management, etc)
  • Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards
  • Responsible for tax planning throughout the fiscal year; works closely with an external accounting firm to file the annual corporate tax return
  • Ability to make decisions about non-standard client transactions
  • Establishes and maintains internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budgets
  • Evaluates current accounting practices and makes process improvement recommendations
  • Prepares business activity reports, financial and variance analysis, and financial forecasting
  • Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Presents recommendations to the VP of Finance on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies
  • Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Coaches the accounting staff who are responsible for accounts payable, invoicing, accounts receivable, collections process, payroll, expenses, and asset management
  • Provides recommendations in promotion and salary discussions
  • Coordinates onboarding programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff

  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • A keen eye and high attention to detail

  • Ability to read balance sheets and P&L statements
  • Ability to create financial models
  • Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software
  • Intermediate QuickBooks experience
  • Resourceful problem solver and critical thinker
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in GSuite or similar software
  • Proficient in Excel/G-sheets to create forecasting models

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Two years of management experience
  • Eight years or more of related experience required
  • Experience with Salesforce preferred
  • Experience in accounting system migration preferred
  • Experience with recording multi-state Payroll to the GL
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, multitasking and organizational skills
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred
  • A combination of education, work experience, and certification will be considered

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
